The mission of the
Entrepreneurship Development Cells is to "Develop institutional
mechanism to create entrepreneurial culture in science & technology
academic institutions to develop technocrat entrepreneurs for generation
of wealth and employment ".
The Department of Science & Technology, Government of India
set up the National Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Development
Board (NSTEDB) in the year 1982. The Board has been trying to set
up institutional mechanisms, which could act as support system for
technocrat entrepreneurs. Te scheme for establishment of Entrepreneurship
Development Cells (EDCs) in academic institutions was one such initiative
taken by the NSTEDB in 1986-87. Already, EDCs have been established
in more than 30 academic institutions. It is now felt to look at
the concept of EDCs afresh so that these could meet the challenges
posed by the current era of economic liberalisation and globalisation.
Thus, the new/revised guidelines have been evolved.

The Society of Jesus,

WEST BENGAL UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY (WBUT)
is closely associated with the organization and continuously extending
their support and guidance. ‘HRCL’ is the first ‘Incubated
Member’ approved by ‘WBUT’ to commence its research
and developmental work at the EKTA INCUBATION CENTRE of ‘WBUT’.

the help and timely support from the Ekta Incubation Center in Kolkata,
Rahul and Manas have launched their start-up company called TuneSpray
Pvt. Ltd starting from October 2007. We want to be the first company
in India and West Bengal to develop a mass-market content delivery
platform for mobile phones and hence revolutionize the mobile internet
and Value Added Services (VAS) market place in India. Our objective
to give ordinary users the ability to produce, direct and market
their own mobile content without depending on operators and provide
a technology that makes it easy to deliver rich and interactive
mobile content to a global audience via mobile phones.
We
have many challenges and opportunities ahead and to help us realize
our vision, we are delighted to announce our two newest recruits
for Java Programming – Soumen Goswani and Malay Bag. Soumen
and Malay join us from the West Bengal University of Technology
(WBUT) having passed out in June 2007 and majored in MCA.
